Sandra and Joseph - the owner of Olkinyei Mara

Our Story

Sandra met Joseph by coincidence in early 2022 and impressed by his guiding, wildlife and photography skills, he became her Driver-Guide.

Joseph is a Masai and has worked in the tourism industry for many years. He is definitely one of the best Driver-Guides we have in the Masai Mara.

Sandra is a German and worked 14 years in the car industry for BMW headquarters in Munich.

Besides cars, her passions have always been wildlife, safaris and photography.

In 2023, they both decided to pass on their passion to many more people from all over the world and the idea of starting Olkinyei Mara Tented Camp as a joint business became reality. Since then, the camp has grown a lot and many more projects are planned and in the making already.

Maxson

Maxson is our camp manager and has been part of our team for many years. Starting out as a helper for everything, we quickly recognized his great potential and today he helps everywhere and is a great support for Joseph and Sandra.

Culinary team

Michael, Robert, Geoffrey and Arnold

Michael, Robert, Geoffrey and Arnold ensure that you are well catered for every day. We focus on a mix of continental food paired with Kenyan and Indian accents. The personal wishes and needs of our guests are most important to us. Whether vegetarian, gluten-free or other requirements, almost anything is possible. If you wish we can also provide the breakfast and / or lunch as packed meals without any extra costs.
